Who should I like the most in this match?

After winning the point why most players point finger to the opponent. Any warning or any question to ask or shut up or you are not good enough. Any orher competitions have no finger pointing. Anyway i Dont like finger pointing because it is personal disturbing. Flack is very good but finger pointing is not good. China players should not copy finger pointing. Palm pointing for pause is acceptable. Particularly middle finger pointing is from west culture for F----k.

Penhold need too much footwork. Xuxin need to position himself to edge of the table for forehand attack, but his footwork can’t reach to other edge easily.

To be honest, 3rd set makes that very plausible. In the 4th set, it seemed like xu xin had even had to work hard to lose lol

This is simply one of the WTT experiments to keep things moving along. They also have a round in the tournament where the games are only played to five points and the finals are played best of 9 games. Can you imagine anyone, even FZD or Ma Long, being down 4 games to none and coming back? That only works in the closest of matches. If it's a blowout, it would make no sense to play a 5th game.

Xu Xin had no answer for Mattias' rapid fire returns of his serves and nullification of his spin. Mattias must've changed the colour of the short pips to red.

One of the main instrument Falck used in this game was tempo changing.

Xu Xin was not in the game, his topspin too soft and slow.

This is better than the normal camera angle - you can actually see arc and speed. Placement is not hard to read either. If they could just get a little bit behind one of the corners, then it would be ideal!

If this game go to best of 7 Xu Xin will win because he's not used to with Falck tactics and pips. He's still analyzing and lost in Best of 5.

I've always thought that Falck's game can be very useful against Xu Xin's play style. Hitting through spin is what short pips hitter do the most, what they practice the most, and Xu Xin loves to open with slow to medium-fast and spinny loops

People don't understand. It is not big deal to lose one or two games. Why make big news about it. It is always very very tough for top seed players, especially the new ITTF ranking system, not ranked by skill, ranked by participation. Look at Zhang Jike still in the list ranked 72, yeah he is Olympic champion worst than 60 players. So the ranking, top seeds never get to rest to stay in top seed. They played more tournaments, more matches because they win more, automatically qualified, you have to play. The Macau match shorten the points and sudden death makes it even tougher for top seed players, the pressure when you get to 10-10. Non top seed players don't worry about losing, since they are not top seed anyway. It is natural for top seed players to lose a few games, for the most part they win world tours

Falck has really improved. Xu Xin hit a few too many soft, slow topspin loops and Falck put several of them away.

Falck is our next superstar, has really been taking this pandemic to his advantage. What an improvment.

While many struggle with XX's forehand top spin, Falck seems to have a way with negating it by smashing it through with his short pips.

Congrats to Mattias Falck for winning against Xu Xin! He hit Xu Xin's topspins right off the bounce with short pips on forehand, which was deadly considering how spinny Xu Xin's shots were. He basically used Xu Xin's strength against him.

@Ktosom Cosom Oh I am sorry Falck have short pimples. If you could see Xu Xin's playing style based on using slow but spinny forehand loop. So he is giving to ball maximum spin and minimum speed. For players that using ordinary rubber it is hard to counter attack to this spinny ball, because when so spinny ball little bit contacts with rubber it is jumping over. Falck have short pips on his forehand and spinny balls is not jumping over when contacting with ball. So that's why it is easy for Falck to hit ball slow and spinny ball. I have not so good English

this camera angle pisses me off, can't really see the trajectory of the ball. There is a clear reason why table tennis is broadcasted in longitudinal direction of the table.

With his performances in these 3 events and the last World Championship, Mattias must be getting close to securing a spot as one of the top 2 non-Chinese players for the Olympics which would give him a top 4 seed there (recall, only 2 Chinese players can compete in the Olympics). He is competing with Harimoto, Lin yun-ju, Hugo Calderone and the top German & Korean players for those two spots. Also, if he could get to the top 6 in World Rankings, he will have much better chances of being seeded for semi-finals in many Tour events as not all the Chinese players are there consistently....
